Horadric Cube Guide: Recipes and Material Safety
Use Lord of Hatred's crafting station safely by separating unlocks, affix operations, quality conversion, Talisman recipes, gems, Runes, and Season 14 Mythic conversion.
At the Temis Cube, decide what must be preserved before choosing a recipe. Add, remove, and reroll affixes; same-quality rerolls; quality upgrades; and Unique, Charm, gem, or Rune recipes preserve different things. Read the inputs, output preview, and costs every time, and never feed equipped, GA-bearing, or finished items. Season 14's Craft Mythic recipe, formerly Upgrade to Mythic, is a same-slot random conversion rather than an in-place upgrade.
Five Safe Setup Steps
51. Unlock It in the Campaign
Discover the Horadric Cube during the Lord of Hatred campaign. Once unlocked, it remains available as a crafting station in Temis.
2. Choose One Outcome
Choose one goal: adjust an affix, raise quality, craft a Charm, transform gems or Runes, or roll a Mythic. Similar names can still consume and return different items.
3. Prepare Disposable Inputs
Move equipped, GA-bearing, well-rolled, and last-copy Set Charms aside. Use only inputs you can afford to lose.
4. Match Inputs, Output, and Cost
Check eligible quality, gear slot, level requirement, Cube Dust, Tuning Prisms, and other costs in the live recipe panel. The live UI overrides examples.
5. Inspect Every Result
Do not batch blindly. Inspect name, quality, affixes, Unique Power, sockets, and Greater Affixes before keeping, equipping, salvaging, or crafting again.
Eleven Recipe Families by Purpose
11Add or Remove an Affix
Add or remove affixes primarily on Common, Magic, Rare, and Legendary gear. When a Prism targets a category, inspect the displayed candidate pool.
Chaotic or Focused Reroll
Reroll broadly or focus the direction with a Tuning Prism. Since live 3.1.0, Unique and Mythic Unique items are ineligible for these two recipes.
Quality Upgrade or Same-Quality Reroll
Raise rarity while adding affixes, or reroll within the same quality. The Cube can also turn a Common into a Unique of the same item type, but this is not affix preservation.
Reroll Unique Power
In current 3.1, this also works on Unique Charms and non-Ancestral items. It is separate from affix rerolling, so check the Unique Power preview.
Talisman Crafting and Set Rerolls
Craft Unique Charms and reroll Set Charms. Protect equipped Charms and the last copy needed for an active set.
Gem Amalgamation
Create Horadric and Flawless Horadric gems beyond the Jeweler's normal tiers. Required gem combinations can change, so follow the live Amalgamation recipe.
Rune Transformation and Mythic Crafting
Transform toward specific Legendary Runes and support Mythic crafting. In Season 14, Craft Mythic, formerly Upgrade to Mythic, consumes an eligible Unique and four Fragments for a random same-slot Mythic.
Upgrade Direct Item to Mythic
Season 15 still creates Mythic Uniques three ways - the Cube's direct upgrade, the Jeweler's Rune Crafting, and the Blacksmith's Mythic cache - but the outcomes are far more deterministic. The Cube's direct upgrade costs more than the other two and is a total 1:1 transfer with the random factors gone: feed in an item with ideal affixes and dialed-in Tempering and Masterworking and you get a Mythic version with all affixes and modifications retained.
Affix Value Reroll
New in Season 15. Rerolls all base affixes on both equipment and Talisman items (Charms and Seals) while protecting Greater Affixes, Enchanted affixes, Tempers and Transfigurations - as long as the Transfigured item is not Unmodifiable.
Horadric Reroll
A second, Charm-and-Seal-only reroll added in Season 15. Available for Legendary+ Charms and Seals, it fully randomizes all base affixes without touching Set Bonuses or Unique/Mythic charm powers. Unlike Affix Value Reroll, it does not change the Charm Set Bonus affixes on Seals.
Soul Splinter Amalgamation
Season 15 Soul Splinters drop as Magic, Rare, Legendary or Unique. Using Amalgamation in the Horadric Cube upgrades Soul Splinters of the same type and rarity to the next highest rarity. You can equip up to three Soul Splinters in available jewelry slots.
Six Material Routes
6Elite Monsters
A baseline source of new Cube materials. Do not assume fixed quantities or a guaranteed specific Elite.
Cube Spoils from War Plans
Replenish materials through Cube Spoils from completed War Plans. Favor a chain you can finish through its War Chest.
Undercity Tributes
Use Kurast Undercity Tributes as a material route. The current Cube Dust tooltip includes Undercity activities as a source.
Whisper Caches
Overlay Whispers with War Plans to pursue ordinary rewards and Cube materials together. Individual material drops are not guaranteed.
Tuning Prisms
Chromatic Prisms target resistance outcomes, while Kullean Prisms can concern Aspects and other displayed targets. Follow the tooltip rather than guessing from the name.
Primordial Dust and Seasonal Materials
Refined Primordial Dust and Pandemonium Fragments serve different recipes. Do not treat the Season 14 Fragment as a universal permanent Cube currency.
Five Outcome-First Decisions
5Fix One Affix
Compare Add/Remove, reroll recipes, and Occultist Enchanting. Unique tiers are excluded from Chaotic and Focused Reroll.
Raise a Low-Quality Base
Check the Common, Magic, Rare, or Legendary quality and affix count before staged transmutation. Names and desired affixes are not always preserved.
Upgrade a Talisman
Choose between rerolling a spare Set Charm and crafting a Unique Charm without breaking the main set threshold. Check Seal slot count first.
Target Gems or Runes
Separate gem Amalgamation from targeted Legendary Rune transformation. Use the current displayed input types and quantities.
Craft a Mythic
In Season 14, confirm level 70, Torment, a spare 850+ Unique, and four Fragments. The result is a same-slot roll, not an upgrade to the same name.
Ten Costly Misreads
10- Do not read Upgrade as in-place preservation; verify the preview for name, slot, and quality.
- Never feed equipped, GA-bearing, well-rolled, or last-copy Set items.
- Do not retain PTR guidance for Chaotic or Focused Reroll on Unique or Mythic items; live 3.1 removed it.
- Do not confuse rerolling a Unique Power with rerolling ordinary affixes.
- Adding Mythic modifiers to Unique Charms or Seals was removed in 3.1.1a.
- Secret recipes are discoveries; do not publish unverified combinations or community guesses as confirmed.
- Do not apply the announced Season 15 direct Mythic upgrade to Season 14; the live recipe remains a random same-slot conversion.
- Mythic Uniques made with the Cube's Upgrade Direct Item to Mythic carry a Crafted tag, and only one Crafted tag item can be equipped at a time. Mythics from the Jeweler's Rune Crafting or the Blacksmith's cache carry no tag, so combining crafted and dropped Mythics still lets you equip several at once.
- Upgrade Direct Item to Mythic cannot be used on an Unmodifiable item. Do not Transfigure a precious Mythic Unique candidate into an unusable state first.
- Horadric Reroll fully randomizes base affixes, so do not run it casually on a Charm or Seal that already has good base affixes. It is limited to Legendary+ items.
Live 3.2.1 Boundaries
12- Patch 3.2.1 kept the three ways to create Mythic Uniques but made the outcomes far more deterministic. The Cube's direct upgrade is a 1:1 transfer that retains affixes and modifications.
- Patch 3.2.1 introduced the Crafted tag on Mythics from the Cube's direct upgrade; only one Crafted tag item can be equipped at a time.
- Patch 3.2.1 added two Cube recipes: Affix Value Reroll and Horadric Reroll.
- Patch 3.2.1 added Soul Splinters, with Amalgamation in the Cube upgrading Splinters of the same type and rarity to the next rarity.
- Live 3.1 removed Chaotic and Focused Reroll for Unique tiers, made Upgrade to Mythic return the same gear slot, and barred Mythics as inputs.
- Reroll Unique Power now works on Talisman Charms and non-Ancestral items.
- A Chromatic Tuning Prism can target All Resistance for Add/Remove Affix and supported reroll recipes.
- Patch 3.1.1 reduced Upgrade to Mythic from five Pandemonium Fragments to four.
- Fixes cover Undercity sourcing on Cube Dust, names after Rare upgrades, and level scaling for Cube-created Uniques.
- Patch 3.1.1a removed the one-crafted-Mythic equip limit and the unintended Mythic modifier recipe for Unique Charms and Seals.
- Patch 3.1.2 renamed Upgrade to Mythic to Craft Mythic and fixed Mythic Uniques that could not be recycled; the result remains a random same-slot Mythic.
- Patch 3.2.1 (Season 15) shipped the previously announced recipe that upgrades an item directly to Mythic while retaining the original Unique. The earlier note that this was not yet live no longer applies.
