Physical Blade Arc Witchblade

A tank build centered on the Soldier's Blade Arc that wins through raw stats rather than skill execution. Level with Forcewave early, then respec into Blade Arc once you have the medal. Physical damage can't bypass enemy armor for free, so gearing prioritizes % physical damage increases, offensive ability, crit damage, and ways to shred enemy armor/physical resistance. War Cry and Menhir's Bulwark cut incoming damage while a huge health regen pool keeps you standing. The author personally defeated every Celestial — including Lokarr, Ravager of Flesh, and Callagadra — while still in green/blue gear.

TARGET CONTENT

The author personally defeated Lokarr, Ravager of Flesh, and Callagadra on video. The guide was originally published in January 2025 and revised for v1.2.1.6 in December 2025, plus a Shattered Realm gameplay clip. That said, DPS varies hugely depending on how gear/stats are itemized — the author warns this build is easy to build "poorly," so reading the gear-selection section closely matters more than usual.

1. Blade ArcPoints: 最大Priority: Top priority

A close-range AoE attack. Level with Forcewave early, then respec into this once you have the Balthazar's Crest medal. Bind the Assassin's Blade devotion's Assassin's Mark proc here (100% chance on crit, shredding the target's Physical/Pierce resistance).

2. BlitzPoints: 1〜数ポイントPriority: Medium

A charge skill used to close the gap at the start of a fight. Bind the Dire Bear devotion's Maul proc here (20% chance on attack, cutting the target's armor by 15%).

3. War CryPoints: 最大Priority: High

An AoE debuff that deals a burst of damage, taunts enemies, and lowers their damage output for 5 seconds. It doesn't buff you directly, but indirectly forms one of the build's core defensive pillars.

4. Menhir's BulwarkPoints: 最大Priority: High

A defensive skill that improves shield proficiency, forming the other half of the build's damage-reduction core alongside War Cry. Bind the Tortoise devotion's Turtle Shell proc here (auto-triggers below 50% health, throwing up a damage-absorbing barrier).

5. Curse of FrailtyPoints: 最大Priority: High (once Occultist unlocks)

A curse that lowers enemy movement speed, physical resistance, and bleed resistance. Max it first once you start investing in Occultist around level 75.

6. Blood of DreegPoints: 最大Priority: High

A sustained-heal buff. It's a core pillar of the build's regen stacking and a safety net during prolonged fights. Bind the Crab devotion's Arcane Barrier proc here (30% chance on being hit, throwing up a damage-absorbing barrier).

7. Aspect of the GuardianPoints: 最大Priority: Medium

An Occultist defensive buff that boosts physical and poison/acid resistance (it doesn't grant armor directly). Bind the Ghoul devotion's Ghoulish Hunger proc here.

8. Scars of BattlePoints: 6〜7Priority: Medium

A Soldier passive for armor absorption. Investing 6-7 points here means you only need a single crafted Scaled Hide component to round out your absorption, instead of two.

LEVELING
  • Start as Soldier and put the first 6 points into Forcewave to level with. In Act 1, chase Milton's Casque (from Milton Hart) and Shambler's Heart (from the Ancient Shambler).
  • In Act 2, respec from Forcewave to Blade Arc once you get Balthazar's Crest (from Nicholas Balthazar). Also grab Cronley's Signet (from Darius Cronley) and craft the Guile Relic.
  • In Acts 3-4, chase Gollus' Ring (from the Deepdweller), Mogara's Fangs (from the Prime Matriarch), and Dreeg-Sect Legguards.
  • Around level 40, head to the Forgotten Gods East March to pick up a one-handed weapon and shield (axe & board). At level 65-70, upgrade your chest/shoulders from the Devil's Crossing or Malmouth Resistance faction vendors.
  • Around level 75, start investing in Occultist and max Curse of Frailty and Blood of Dreeg.

  • Weapon: Sandclaw Slicer. Shield: Kalis'Ka's Harvest or Fleshwarped Bulwark.
  • Helmet: Fleshwarped Casque. Chest: Mythical Baldir's Armor or a well-rolled Galakros Singed Plating.

PLAY

Playstyle & Notes

PLAYSTYLE
  • Charge in with Blitz, then debuff the pack with War Cry and Curse of Frailty.
  • Keep swinging Blade Arc at close range to clear everything in its radius.
  • Physical damage can't bypass enemy armor for free, so prioritize % physical damage, OA, and crit chance on gear (don't trust the DPS tooltip).
  • Tank hits behind high armor, resistances, and a big regen pool, using Blood of Dreeg or a potion to cover emergencies.
RESISTANCES

The core defense comes from stacking physical resistance and armor to blunt most incoming damage. War Cry and Menhir's Bulwark cut incoming damage further, and augments push resistances roughly 33% over cap. Reflect damage resistance is a must-have — running low on it can get you killed by the first reflect monster you swing at (a Titan Plating component helps a lot).

WEAKNESSES

Single-target DPS is modest, and results swing a lot depending on how gear is itemized (the author warns it "will not perform well" if built poorly). Physical damage is easily blocked by enemy armor, so gearing for % physical damage, reliable crits, and armor/resistance reduction is essential. Running low on reflect damage resistance can get you killed by the first reflect monster you encounter.

FARMING SPOTS

Farm Milton Hart and the Ancient Shambler in Act 1, Nicholas Balthazar and Darius Cronley in Act 2, and the Deepdweller (Gollus' Ring) and the Prime Matriarch (Mogara's Fangs) in Acts 3-4. Late-game, Carraxus, the Titanovore, and Galakros all spawn near waypoints for easy farming, and the Vinelton vendor can be reset-bought for Ugdenbog Girdle and the relic blueprint.
