A Jewel in the Mud
An Ashes of Malmouth Act 5 main quest activated when you speak to Scorv Egdenor in Barrowholm during A Witch's Bargain. On the friendly route, help the villagers and take the Ugdenbog Fetish from Scorv's chest; on the hostile route, descend through the Forlorn Cellar and defeat its boss for the Fetish. Return it to Garradia at Coven's Refuge.
This quest runs inside A Witch's Bargain, and Scorv's friendly/hostile choice completely changes the route. On the friendly route, the Fetish is in a chest inside Scorv's central house, but it remains locked until the village assistance requirement is met. On the hostile route, loot Scorv's key and enter the Forlorn Cellar in southeastern Barrowholm.
- 1Speak to Scorv and choose friendship or hostility
- ▸Complete Desperate Measures, accept A Witch's Bargain from Garradia, and travel to Barrowholm.
- ▸Speak to Scorv Egdenor in the house near the village center to activate A Jewel in the Mud.
- ▸Friendship opens Barrowholm faction quests, its vendor path, and access to Ravager; hostility turns the village against you but opens the hostile dungeon and enemy-faction rewards.
- 2Friendly route: assist Barrowholm's villagers
- ▸If friendly, accept Wendigo Wards from Tyvald Hallows and Travelers Beware from Jordyth Evelline.
- ▸The Japanese wiki says either quest unlocks the chest, while the English wiki instructs completing both. If the chest remains locked, finish and turn in both quests.
- ▸Return to Scorv's house and take the Ugdenbog Fetish from the chest beside him.
- 3Hostile route: defeat Namadea in the cellar
- ▸Choosing hostility starts a fight with Scorv, Servant of Ravager. Kill him and make sure to loot the Barrowholm Cellar Key.
- ▸Use the key on the Forlorn Cellar in southeastern Barrowholm and continue into the Den of the Wendigo.
- ▸Defeat Namadea, the Reaper at the end and pick up the Ugdenbog Fetish she drops.
- 4Deliver the Fetish to Garradia
- ▸On either route, return to Coven's Refuge with the Ugdenbog Fetish.
- ▸Give it to Garradia to complete this quest together with A Witch's Bargain.
- ▸Rewards are 10,000 / 25,000 / 40,000 XP by difficulty. The campaign continues with Into the Jaws of Madness.
If the friendly-route chest is locked, verify that the Tyvald and Jordyth quests have both been turned in. If the hostile cellar is locked, check that you looted Scorv's key and are using the southeastern village entrance. After obtaining the Fetish, report to Garradia at Coven's Refuge, not Scorv.
