A Base Game Act 3 main quest given by Ulgrim, who is stranded with refugees in Deadman's Gulch. Travel through Mountain Deeps, secure the Homestead Rift, and bring Ulgrim and the refugees to Homestead.

WHY PLAYERS GET STUCK
Reaching Homestead is not enough. Clear the enemies around the Homestead Rift outside the settlement, return to Ulgrim in Deadman's Gulch, send the refugees through your rift, then speak to Ulgrim again on Homestead's upper level.
WALKTHROUGH
- 1Accept the quest from Ulgrim in Deadman's Gulch
- ▸Exit Smuggler's Pass into Deadman's Gulch and speak to Ulgrim just northeast of the Riftgate.
- ▸He asks you to establish a safe route because the injured refugees cannot fight through Mountain Deeps.
- ▸You can also take the side quest Too Late for Rescue from nearby Collin Taverin.
- 2Travel through Mountain Deeps
- ▸Head west from Ulgrim and enter Mountain Deeps.
- ▸Cross the dungeon to its western exit. It contains a Devotion Shrine, and Dahlia's corpse for Too Late for Rescue can appear at one of several locations inside.
- ▸On reaching Prospector's Trail, activate the nearby Riftgate to establish a return point.
- 3Secure the Homestead Rift
- ▸Follow the road from Prospector's Trail or cut northwest across the fields, passing through Withering Fields toward Homestead.
- ▸Kill all Aetherials around the Riftgate outside Homestead's entrance.
- ▸Confirm that the Homestead Rift activates after the fight.
- 4Transport the refugees and report in Homestead
- ▸Use the secured Riftgate to return to Deadman's Gulch and speak to Ulgrim. During the conversation, your character opens a rift and sends the refugees to safety.
- ▸Return to Homestead and speak to Ulgrim again on the settlement's upper level to complete the quest.
- ▸Rewards are 8,000 / 31,000 / 64,000 XP on Normal / Elite / Ultimate and +500 Black Legion reputation. This unlocks The Black Legion's Finest.
STILL LOST?
The route is Ulgrim in Deadman's Gulch -> Mountain Deeps to the west -> Prospector's Trail -> Withering Fields -> Homestead. After securing the rift, speak to Ulgrim in Deadman's Gulch, then to him again on Homestead's upper level.
There is no prerequisite, time limit, or failure branch, so the quest is not missable. It can be accepted even if the Act 1-2 main quests were skipped, but completion is required to open Homestead's western gate and continue the main questline. Completing The Ironclad Chef in Act 1 changes Ulgrim's dialogue, not the outcome.
