An Act 3 main quest offered by Douglass Sullivan Oldbarrow in Homestead. It has no prerequisite quest and becomes available once you reach Homestead. Destroy 10 Dermapteran Egg Clusters in Thornsbury Farm and Elmsworth Farm beyond the western gate, then report back.

WHY PLAYERS GET STUCK
The objective is not the Rotting Croplands or the Royal Hive: search Thornsbury Farm and Elmsworth Farm west of Homestead. Egg Clusters are marked with stars on the mini-map, so sweeping both farms and their buildings yields all 10.
WALKTHROUGH
- 1Accept Douglass's request
- ▸Speak with Douglass Sullivan Oldbarrow in Homestead; the quest has no prerequisite.
- ▸He asks you to destroy 10 Dermapteran Egg Clusters to reclaim the western farmland.
- 2Leave through the western gate
- ▸Exit Homestead through its western gate.
- ▸If the gate is not passable yet, continue the main campaign until Homestead is secured (for example, We Need Food).
- 3Destroy 10 Egg Clusters
- ▸Travel west from the gate and search Thornsbury Farm.
- ▸Also sweep neighboring Elmsworth Farm to the south, destroying the star-marked Dermapteran Egg Clusters until the counter reaches 10.
- ▸The two farms normally contain enough clusters; if any are missing, check field edges and around the buildings.
- 4Report to Douglass
- ▸Return to Homestead and report to Douglass.
- ▸Rewards are difficulty-scaled XP and Iron plus +500 Homestead reputation.
- ▸Continue speaking with him to receive the follow-up quest Culling the Swarm.
STILL LOST?
Start at Homestead's west gate, sweep Thornsbury Farm to the west, then Elmsworth Farm to the south. If the gate is closed, continue the main campaign until Homestead is secured. You never need to go as far as the Rotting Croplands.
There is no time limit or failure branch, so the quest is not missable. It is a Base Game quest and requires no DLC. After completion, enemies leave the farms and soldiers move in. Rewards are 9,000 XP/1,200 Iron on Normal, 36,000 XP/5,000 Iron on Elite, and 70,000 XP/11,000 Iron on Ultimate.
