WHY PLAYERS GET STUCK
Completing Culling the Swarm is not enough; Homestead reputation must also reach Honored. The giver is Douglass Sullivan Oldbarrow in Homestead, not an NPC at either cult faction hub. The only objective is to speak with Barnabas outside the Act 1 settlement.
WALKTHROUGH
- 1Meet the prerequisites
- ▸Progress the We Need Food questline and complete Culling the Swarm.
- ▸Reach Honored reputation (rank 3) with Homestead.
- ▸The quest does not complete automatically. Speak with Douglass Sullivan Oldbarrow inside Homestead once both conditions are met.
- 2Receive the news from Douglass
- ▸Douglass explains that Homestead is returning your help by sending food to Devil's Crossing.
- ▸The quest has one objective: report to Barnabas in Devil's Crossing. No combat or item collection is required.
- 3Report to Barnabas in Devil's Crossing
- ▸Travel to the Devil's Crossing Rift and find Barnabas by the water pump outside the prison wall on the south side.
- ▸Speak with Barnabas to deliver the news and complete the quest.
- ▸On Normal, the rewards are 2,500 XP, +1,500 Devil's Crossing reputation, +500 Homestead reputation, and two random rare partial components.
STILL LOST?
If Douglass has no quest marker, verify both Culling the Swarm completion and Honored Homestead reputation. After accepting, the destination is the water pump outside Devil's Crossing, not another location near Homestead.
A short Base Game main/Homestead faction quest with no time limit or failure branch, so it is not missable. If Ulgrim was not invited to Devil's Crossing in Act 1, completing this quest also unlocks Edwin's cook service there. This concludes the food-supply questline linking Devil's Crossing and Homestead.
