The Hidden Path
A long hidden questline that starts from a secret passage in Lower Crossing. It begins in Act 1, but unlocking the first area requires two Dynamite from Act 2. Collect the Runestones of Dreeg, Solael, and Bysmiel, then defeat The Sentinel in the Temple of the Three for attribute and skill point rewards.
The starting point is in Act 1, but you cannot enter the first hidden area without two Dynamite. Later stages rely on breakable walls, sealed stones, and map landmarks more than obvious quest markers. If you get stuck, confirm your current riftgate and the next target area.
- 1Open the hidden path in Lower Crossing
- ▸In central Lower Crossing, just north of the Hevill's Greatsword spot, look beside the house for a narrow path leading toward the map edge.
- ▸Use two Dynamite at the Detonation Site. Since Act 1 does not reliably provide them early, reach Act 2, get Dynamite, then return.
- ▸Defeat Guardian of Dreeg at the end and pick up Runestone of Dreeg plus the journal to activate the quest.
- 2Get the Runestone of Solael in Broken Hills
- ▸Go to Broken Hills in Act 2 and search the southwestern outer route.
- ▸The second hidden area is behind a sealed stone gate. It opens once the previous stage is complete.
- ▸Defeat Guardian of Solael and pick up Runestone of Solael plus the journal.
- 3Get the Runestone of Bysmiel in Asterkarn
- ▸From the Asterkarn Valley rift in Act 4, head northwest and check the breakable wall near the standing stones for the journal.
- ▸Then return toward Asterkarn Road and search along the east side before the bridge to open the sealed stone.
- ▸Defeat Guardian of Bysmiel in the small cave and pick up Runestone of Bysmiel. This stage grants +1 Attribute Point.
- 4Enter the Temple of the Three from East Marsh
- ▸With all three Runestones, go to East Marsh east of Burrwitch Village.
- ▸Find the large marked stone near the river bend, partly hidden by trees. With Forgotten Gods installed, use the concave map shape as the landmark instead of just following the northern edge.
- ▸Offer the three Runestones at the marked stone, follow the revealed path, and enter the Temple of the Three.
- 5Defeat The Sentinel and speak to The Attendant
- ▸The Temple is dense with poison/acid and chaos enemies plus damaging poison floors. Cap poison/acid resistance and avoid standing in ground effects.
- ▸Defeat The Sentinel in the Sanctum of the Witch Gods at the end.
- ▸Speak to The Attendant in the back room to complete the quest. The final reward is +1 Skill Point per difficulty, with +1 Attribute Point earned during the Bysmiel stage.
Check the common blockers in order: the narrow path beside the house in Lower Crossing, southwest Broken Hills, the breakable wall northwest of Asterkarn Valley, the east side before the Asterkarn Road bridge, and the marked stone by the East Marsh river. Even though it starts in Act 1, the first gate needs two Dynamite from Act 2.
