The Living Factory
The Living Factory is the final Ashes of Malmouth Act 6 main quest. After Tip of the Spear, accept it from Ulgrim in Crown Hill. Destroy all three exhaust vents around Crown Hill, pass through The Infestation and The Fleshworks, defeat the Master of Flesh, Theodin Marcell, in the Sanctum of Flesh, then report to Inquisitor Creed in the Steelcap District.
The three exhaust vents are the main navigation trap: all are around Crown Hill's outer edge, and the southern vent is in a dead end. The Infestation at the northeast end does not become accessible until all three are destroyed. It is only the passage into The Fleshworks; both fixed guardians inside the factory must die to open the Sanctum of Flesh. The pre-boss dialogue has a choice, but no materially different reward branch.
- 1Accept from Ulgrim and destroy all three exhaust vents
- ▸Complete the prerequisite main quest Tip of the Spear, then accept The Living Factory from Ulgrim in Crown Hill.
- ▸Destroy the northern, eastern, and southern exhaust vents around Crown Hill's outer edge; the southern vent is at the end of a dead-end route.
- ▸For less backtracking, take the southern vent first from the Crown Hill Rift, return through the rift, then clear the northern vent and finish at the eastern vent near the northeast route.
- 2Pass through The Infestation into The Fleshworks
- ▸Destroying all three vents opens the entrance to the Aetherial stronghold at Crown Hill's northeast end.
- ▸Enter The Infestation there, cross the area, and continue into The Fleshworks.
- ▸Destroying the vents is also a prerequisite for The Other You. The Living Flesh Door at the north end of The Infestation belongs to that separate side quest.
- 3Slay both guardians of the Sanctum of Flesh
- ▸Proceed through The Fleshworks and locate the two fixed guardians near the route into the Sanctum of Flesh.
- ▸Kill Rodalgar, the Flesh Collector.
- ▸Kill Hagalvar, the Bone Monger as well; the Sanctum route opens only after both guardians are dead.
- 4Defeat Theodin Marcell and report to Creed
- ▸Speak with the Master of Flesh, Theodin Marcell, in the Sanctum. A dialogue option can release him, but it does not avoid the fight or grant a distinct practical reward.
- ▸Defeat Theodin Marcell through all three forms; prepare Aether resistance and reposition for each phase's area attacks.
- ▸Return to the Resistance Hideout in the Steelcap District and report to Inquisitor Creed. Rewards are 56,000 / 104,000 / 168,000 XP by difficulty, +1,000 Malmouth Resistance reputation, and a random Legendary Accessory.
If the quest is unavailable, look for Ulgrim in Crown Hill after completing Tip of the Spear. If the stronghold remains closed, check the log for all three vents: northern, eastern, and southern. Once complete, enter The Infestation at Crown Hill's northeast end and continue to The Fleshworks. If the Sanctum door stays shut, either Rodalgar or Hagalvar is still alive. After the final boss, return to Creed in the Steelcap District rather than searching further inside the factory.
