The Warden

The final main quest of Act 1, offered by Captain John Bourbon after Securing Burrwitch. Enter the underground facility beneath Warden Krieg's estate, kill Warden Krieg, and report back to Bourbon.

WHY PLAYERS GET STUCK

The entrance is not beside the Burrwitch Village Rift. Continue north into Burrwitch Estates and enter Warden's Cellar from the rear of the largest mansion. The route remains long after the cellar: pass through Underground Transit and activate the Warden's Laboratory Riftgate.

WALKTHROUGH
  1. 1
    Accept the quest from Captain John Bourbon
    • Complete the prerequisite main quest Securing Burrwitch.
    • Speak to Captain John Bourbon in the command building at Devil's Crossing.
    • Accept the mission to stop Warden Krieg's experiments beneath his Burrwitch estate.

    Enter the cellar beneath Warden's estate
    • Travel north from the Burrwitch Village Rift into Burrwitch Estates.
    • Find the largest mansion in the estate and go around to its rear.
    • Use the rear entrance to enter Warden's Cellar.

    Cross Underground Transit and reach the Hidden Laboratory
    • Traverse Warden's Cellar and take its exit into Underground Transit.
    • Explore Underground Transit and activate the Warden's Laboratory Riftgate.
    • Continue through the Hidden Laboratory, Living Quarters, Inner Laboratory, Abandoned Storerooms, and Underground Jail; open the large cell door at the far north end.

    Defeat Warden Krieg and report back
    • Kill both forms of Warden Krieg: he revives in a mutated form after his human form falls.
    • His core damage is Physical and Aether with stuns; the mutated form also adds Pierce and Bleeding projectiles. Keep moving in a wide circle when his dangerous attacks begin.
    • Return to Captain John Bourbon at Devil's Crossing. Rewards are difficulty-scaled XP (2,000 / 22,000 / 58,000), +1,000 Devil's Crossing reputation, and access to the Act 2 quest Murderers and Worse.
STILL LOST?

If you cannot find the entrance, go north from the Burrwitch Village Rift and search behind the largest mansion in Burrwitch Estates. Underground, verify the route is Warden's Cellar -> Underground Transit -> Warden's Laboratory Riftgate. Once activated, that riftgate prevents a full cellar runback after death.

This concludes Act 1. There is no time limit or failure branch; the quest completes when you report Warden Krieg's death to Bourbon.
