WHY PLAYERS GET STUCK

The title is easy to confuse with Bourbon's welcome dialogue or the preceding quest, but both giver and target are Rook. There is no exploration, combat, or collection: simply speak to Rook outside the prison gate.

WALKTHROUGH
  1. 1
    Complete Waking to Misery
    • Kill Kyzogg the Reanimator in the cave beneath Burial Hill.
    • Report to Captain John Bourbon and complete Waking to Misery.
    • Afterward, Rook at the prison gate is ready to grant access.

    Speak to Rook at the gate
    • Find Rook, the Gate Keeper, outside the inner prison gate at Devil's Crossing.
    • Speaking to Rook activates and completes the quest, opens the gate, and unlocks the prison's facilities and NPCs.
    • Rewards are 100 XP on Normal, 5,500 XP on Elite, and 14,000 XP on Ultimate.
STILL LOST?

Do not search for Bourbon or a distant objective. Return to the outer prison gate at Devil's Crossing and speak to Rook standing beside the closed gate.

Prerequisite: Waking to Misery. There is no time limit or failure branch, so it is not missable. The Japanese Wiki catalogs it as an Act 1 main quest.
